Spot On's mission, aligned with Planned Parenthood's mission, is to help people who menstruate avoid unintended pregnancies by being the mobile resource for birth control and period tracking. While other similar apps include contraceptive tracking, none come with the accuracy and safety backed by Planned Parenthood's Medical Guidelines and Standards. The app asks about the birth control you're using so that it can help you by providing reminders (to take your pill, change your ring, etc.) and even advice on how to get back on track if you make a mistake.
We understand that a lot of of users aren't using any birth control at all, and we never want to make assumptions about your reproductive goals as it relates to using the app. Some users just need help tracking their periods, or keeping track of different symptoms that relate to their menstrual cycles.
For those that aren't tracking a birth control method, we recommend selecting "None of these" during onboarding. The only difference in your experience is that you won't receive reminders for taking a pill or changing your ring. Users who onboard as "none of these" will be able to receive period predictions and fertility predictions in addition to all of the other functionality Spot On has to offer.
